Two Main Events Worth Watching in RP (Talo na naman si Juan)

There are two main events that an ordinary Filipino citizens should not fail to watch in the country in the days ahead. For sure on Tuesday, Jocjoc Bolante will be coming home a free man after several years of incarceration in the US by the Immigration Authorities. He tried to put up a gallant legal battle to protect his interest but lost. It is not a glorious homecoming on his part being a deportee but nevertheless he will be back in his homeland a freeman.

Why? Over the years the Ombudsman was sitting on his case over the years despite the voluminous records from the Senate’s hearing establishing prima-facie evidence against him to charge him of plunder on government resources.

Ombudsman however did not agree on the accusation hurled by attorney R and the opposition Senators and Congressmen. The scope of the case is countrywide and there were so many respondents involved thus spending so much time documenting the case before it would be handed down for prosecution. Their optimistic estimate for the filing of the case will be December if luckily they could complete the documentation.

Meanwhile Jocjoc Bolante will be jumping like a toddler of joy for his much valued freedom. Thanks to some friends in the Justice Department and other influential people identified with this administration. But he is not off the hook yet.

According to ABSCBN news-online, “Senator Mar Roxas asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to issue a hold departure order (HDO) against former Agriculture Undersecretary Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante upon his return to the Philippines next week.”

Pangilinan also said that “HDO is necessary to help ensure that Bolante will not escape possible prosecution for graft cases related to the P728 million fertilizer fund which was diverted to President Arroyo’s election campaign in 2004. But without any single case filed against him, it is doubtful the DOJ will be obliged.

Another thing worth looking into is a new impeachment complaint filed against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo accusing her, among, others a betrayal of public trust. Those lead in the filing of the complaint at the House of Representatives were Atty. Harry Roque, Vice-Governor Rolex Suplico of Iloilo, and Jose ‘Joey’ de Venecia III.The impeachment complaint was initially endorsed by Bayan Muna Representatives Satur Ocampo and Teddy Casino, and Gabriela Representative Liza Maza. To give weight to the complaint, Jose de Venecia Jr. also endorsed the impeachment case against President Arroyo last Saturday.

However, House Speaker Prospero Nograles believes that the endorsement made by former Speaker of the House, Jose de Venecia Jr. on the impeachment case against Mrs. Arroyo would not necessarily increase the number of those who would support it. Nograles explained that most of the congressmen were against hearing on the impeachment complaint based on two reasons:  1) it is not time to do it because we are facing an economic crisis, and 2) the 2010 Presidential election is right around the corner. This would make it difficult to get the numbers to impeach the president.

But the former speaker was confident the impeachment complaint would prosper “If congressmen and congresswomen, irrespective of their political party, will listen to their conscience, the voice of conscience.”

Malacanang however just shrug off the latest impeachment complaint and tagged it as bound to fail. Confident the Arroyo’s administration has a still have the support of a large number of Congressmen ready to kill impeachment proceedings Secretary Dureza said, “Let’s leave it to the antics of Congress.”

So in the days to come the Filipinos (majority live in extreme poverty) will just helplessly watch the triumph of socio-political injustice in this country. While an ordinary Juan dela Cruz is languishing in jail for stealing a few hundreds of pesos to feed his hungry family, here is a certain Jocjoc Bolante accused of plundering P728 million pesos in fertilizer fund enjoy his freedom and the protection of this government; and President Arroyo having been accused of involvement in various anomalous transaction enjoys the protection and “antics of her supporters” in the house of the Representatives.

As they say it in Filipino, sa larong ito talo na naman si Juan dela Cruz (in this political game the Filipinos are the ultimate losers).

Hehehe!

  3. Bakit pakakantahin pa si dyokdyok? Pasukahin na lang ang gagong yan and right away feed to the hungry dogs.

A friend in tongress told me that Nognog ran out of a motel/lodge naked (may brief yata) when chased by his wife. Kalambutsing ang walang taste na babae. Someone remember this incident?

  6. Hi, MLQ. I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for visiting Barangay Kidlatan. You are right our good Kapitan sees the relationship between impeachment and Bolante.

  7. Banong and the rest of fun loving Filipinos, here is a story that makes your imagination works fast twice the speed of the lightning, hehehe. http://segundina.wordpress.com

  8. Pareng Cocoy,

  9. Salamat MLQ III for visiting us here. Thanks also for the link. More power to you and Godbless.

  10. Segundina,

Let him face the music ika nga.

  12. Sorry Kap,
Joc-joc Bolante is not coming home yet. He is still with US immigration and customs officials. http://secondlady.wordpress.com

  13. Kap,

Ano ito trick or treat?

  14. UPDATE from abs-cbn.NEWS.com: Joc-joc Bolante is on Northwest Airllines flight 71 to Nagoya, Japan en route to Manila according to Alfonso Cusi’s, Manager of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport . He said at ANC, “The info we had is Jocjoc Bolante is on board Northwest 71, that’s coming from [a] source which I can’t name, it’s confirmed that he is on board Northwest 71.”

“We’re making arrangements… he has to follow normal process for arriving passenger, except that of course, he being a deportee, he has to undergo certain processing, turnover from [US] marshal escorting him to our officers here in immigration,” the airport chief said

By the way, pagkatapos ng maraming paghihirap ni teacher Lupita na turuan si Nelson, nakapagtapos din ang special child now a young man.

Which means free man na itong si Joc-joc Bolante?

  19. Daming kwento tungkol kay Jocjoc at isa itong nakatawag pansin from Abante Tonite by R. Marfil:

Antonio Zulueta at Dr. Romeo Saavedra.

  20. Kap.
Nagsasakit-sakitan lang si Joc-joc Bolante according to Senator Jinggoy Estraada. I’ll keep my mouth shut, hehehe.
Have you heard of the 5 renegade bishops? They don’t only speak of peace but of reform. The Catholic bishops used to be a friend of the President, but they are the most vocal now in denouncing corruption in her administration. this is the link http://colegialagirl.wordpress.com

  21. Ang galing umarte ni Bolante.May pa acki-acki heart pa siya.Hehehe!

  22. The continuing saga of Jocelyn Bolante a.ka. jocjoc is going to be like a telenovela with all the mystery and intrigues entwined in every dramatic interlude before the eyes of those glued at boobtube replacing Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan at Ligaw na Bulaklak which are now about to end at GMA ch. 7 and ABS-CBN ch.2, respectively.

Each day’s episode comes the voice over:

  23. Kapag kumanta si Bolante ay sasaliwan pa siya ng Phil Harmonic Orchestra to the tune of Tell Me Why…

  24. Pareng Cocoy, pareng Joe, and Mer,

What we need to establish a righteous government is a self-less population and a self-less leadership.

  27. Please allow me to reproduce Mon Tulfo’s letter to Joc-joc:

    Dear Joc-joc,

You went to prison in the United States through no fault of your own.

People you covered up for didn’t lift a finger to get you out of the immigration jail.

They could have issued you a diplomatic passport or made representations with the US government since your boss, President Gloria, is very influential with George W. Bush, but they did not.

Are they worth going to prison for?

You suffered for them, Joc-joc, but they didn’t think of you.

They are the kind of people who would leave a friend when he no longer has any use for them.

If you spill the beans on them, your fellow Rotarians will understand. Your countrymen will praise you.

Don’t be a martyr, buddy. Spill the beans and get even. You will be a hero.

    From a fellow like you,

    Mon Tulfo

This is Kapitan Kidlat saying, I love you people.

Sabi ni Banong, you owe him an apology. Ewan ko sa iba.

  33. Did you know?

    • The Great Wall of China, known to be one of the eight wonders of the world, is made of rice. Its foundation is composed of plain sticky rice and compressed dirt.

However, this has been reconstructed and repaired for a number of times, but parts of it with the rice and compressed dirt can still be seen today.

NOVEMEBER IS NATIONAL RICE AWARENESS MONTH!
